Education.
BEMIS is a computer based Education Information System at the
Directorate of Primary Education Balochistan.Before 1990, in
Balochistan, the Education Data collection & reporting
procedures of Education Department were lacking in their
Capability to provide timely & accurate Data regarding status of
school Enrolment, Teaching staff & building facilities.Therefore,
BEMIS was established in 1990. Since than it has been a major
component of Primary Education Directorate PED which Monitors &
Manage Primary Education Services in Balochistan. PED aims to
Improve Access, Equity & Quality of Primary Education.
Objectives of BEMIS
The objectives of BEMIS is to provide EMIS Capable of
collecting, processing & distributing Timely & Accurate
educational data required for Planning, Administration &
decision making within Department of Primary Education

School Census Process:
BEMIS is designed to Establish, Maintain & Update (twice a
year) educational database of all the schools in the Province by
using a Standard Questionnaire which includes more than hundred
items under five categories namely
Enrolment
Administration
Teaching Staff
School Building
Other Facilities(furniture, Instructional Materials etc,

Educational Geographical Information
System (EGIS):
Geographical Information System established in Directorate of
Primary Education Balochistan is the very first Educational GIS
all over Pakistan.Development of GIS in BEMIS started in 1994
with limited functions. However, after geocoding approximately
9000 schools location points to their relevant BEMIS
identification number, now it has been fully operational since
1996.BEMIS School Census Database was enhanced using Digitally
Mapped Databases. The information layers are School location
points human settlements district boundaries district roads
rivers, lakes & streams railway line contour lines.

1.Identifying site for new schools
2.Identifying potential sites for new middle & high schools or
upgrading existing primary schools
3.Identification of human settlements without schools
4.Planning clusters of schools for Teachers in-service
5.training programs
6.Locating sites for Teachers demonstration Schools
